The City of Hampton is offering discounted rates on slips at the Hampton Public Piers for $1.00/foot including water and electricity as well as free anchorage.  To reserve a slip, contact Dockmaster Donnie Bonivich at 757-727-1276 or dockmaster@downtownhampton.com.

Details are still being confirmed but below is a tentative outline of the activities:

Friday, April 19th

Registration-SSCA registration will be open at the Hampton Public Piers so cruisers can pick up their name badges and welcome bags with area discount coupons and other pertinent information prior to the sessions on Saturday.

Meet and Greet-Join fellow cruisers for drinks and munchies from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bull Island Brewing Company, Hampton’s oldest waterfront brewery.

Saturday, April 20th

Get an early start at 7:00 am with a online presentation by Chris Parker from Marine Weather Center and a breakfast buffet!  Other sessions begin at 8:00 am.  All morning sessions will be held in the Dock Side Room at the Hampton Marina Hotel and tentatively include:

OpenCPN-Lead developer of OpenCPN, David Register, will share tips and tricks for using this FREE chart plotter and navigational software program for use underway or as a planning tool.

US Coast Guard (USCG)-Representatives from the local USCG station will discuss the various tracking systems—AIS (Automatic Identification System), DSC (Digital Selective Calling) and EPIRB (Emergency Position-Indicating Radiobeacon Station).

Heading North-SSCA President Ed Kelly and his wife Sue will give a presentation on navigating north of Hampton and what you can explore this spring and summer.

Destination Maine-John and Helen Leddy will guide you to Maine and highlight things to see and do while cruising this spectacular coastline.

Breakout Sessions-After a break for lunch on your own, sessions will move to the Barrel Room at the Bull Island Brewing Company.  From 12:30 pm-3:30 pm, there will be hands-on presentations and training on cruiser applications.  Seating is limited to 40 people for these sessions.

If you're not interested in the breakout sessions, explore what Hampton has to offer or make grocery store and marine store runs.  Bus service will be available.

Sunday, April 21st

Since this is Easter Weekend, there will be plenty of activities in Hampton along with special worship services for those interested.  In addition, area attractions like Fort Monroe are worth visiting with lots of other attractions and restaurants within walking distance of the marina.  Bull Island Brewing Company will be offering cruisers $5 nachos beginning at 11:00 am.
