Lee Chesneau

Lee Chesneau is a U.S. Navy Ship Routing Officer (SRO), senior marine meteorologist and lecturer with a distinguished career with NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS), NOAA Satellite Service (NESDIS) and Ocean Routes, Inc. He served on two aircraft carriers and goes sailing every year to stay in touch with the realities at sea.

 

Lee is a U.S. Coast Guard certified instructor for basic and advanced meteorology at six continuing training institutions for professional mariners. The curriculum taught is based on international standards through the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Standards Training Certification & Watch-Standing for Seafarers (STCW) program.

 

He offers the same curriculum to educate and train recreational boaters on becoming self-reliant in their own marine weather knowledge, weather forecasting, strategic vessel routing, & prudent decision making. Lee is also a speaker at numerous boat shows and Safety at Sea Symposiums (SASS).
