The Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show is back April 24–26 in downtown Annapolis, and for cruisers, it's one of the best weekends on the calendar.
This year's docks will feature everything from racing dinghies to monohulls north of 50 feet and a strong selection of catamarans. Walk the docks, climb aboard, and talk to dealers and builders who know their inventory inside and out. The exhibitor lineup covers the full range of gear and services, from furling systems and foul weather gear to electronics and rigging.
Then there's the education. Cruisers University returns with two intensive courses: the Offshore Emergency Medicine seminar (three days of hands-on medical training, Coast Guard approved and accepted by major offshore races) and the Master Diesel Maintenance and Advanced Diagnostics course, where instructor Jim Zima walks participants through everything from routine maintenance to advanced troubleshooting on running engine models. Both include show admission.
The hourly seminar series rounds things out with topics such as celestial navigation and sailing with kids. The First Sail Workshop puts newcomers on the water aboard a Beneteau First 22, and Jahn Tihansky's dockside racing clinics on Sunday offer small-group coaching for $30, with proceeds benefiting CRAB.
When you're ready to decompress, the No Wake Zone has live music, food from Latitude 38, and local drinks, all floating in Ego Alley. And if your foul weather gear has seen better days, the Foulest Foulies fashion show on Friday evening might be your moment.
Tickets are available at annapolisboatshows.com. It's a weekend of boats, learning, and Annapolis at its best.
