Coho Ho Ho 2026 Fleet Prepares to Head South
The Coho Ho Ho 2026 fleet is getting ready to head south, with boats gathering in Port Townsend for the annual Fleet Departure Weekend, August 28–30.
Before departure and on passage, Coho captains and crews meet via video links. SSCA will be participating in video sessions and assisting if requested.
The departure weekend will be centered at Boat Haven Marina in Port Townsend, Washington, as crews complete last-minute projects, provisioning, and passage preparations before beginning the southbound journey. This is a well prepared rally group, with boats actively preparing their boats with support of the rally organizers. This approach of several months of prepartation, professional webinars with expert mentors, and excellent communications with fleet management and captains/crew support excellent passage making pracitices. Coho Ho Ho Fleet Departure Weekend includes
- Beers and Boat Talk at The Pour House in Port Townsend.
- Fleet breakfast at The Cup.
- Informal fleet gathering, dinner, and final preparations.
- Blessing of the Fleet** at Boat Haven Marina.
- Fleet Departure Ceremony.
The early departure is planned around local conditions at Point Wilson, with sunrise at approximately 6:26 AM and the current turning to ebb shortly afterward.
Coho organizers Doug and Deb have even flown in from the South Pacific to join the sendoff and blow the conch shells as the fleet departs.
