Terry Sparks

Commander TL Sparks enlisted in the Navy in 1968. He attended the Electronics Technician "A" to learn how to operate and repair HF, VHF, and UHF radios. Terry’s 33-years of service in the Navy and Reserves included time at a communications station, a satellite tracking and injection facility and onboard two submarines. He learned about communications, navigation and radar and attained a BS in Electrical Engineering. As a civilian, Terry held roles as a studio engineer, chief engineer, teacher and engineering manager for several technology companies.

After his retirement from the Navy and industry in 2008, Terry and his wife went cruising on their sailing vessel Sunnyside. They continue to cruise in the Sea of Cortez and the Mexico Pacific coast. After a couple of years of cruising, Terry started writing Made Simple for Cruiser books to help others get started living the dream, do it right and come home safely.
