The Open Blue Water Boat Weekend is a three-day event being held in association with the
Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA), the
Salty Dawg Sailing Association (SDSA), and the
Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) to bring like-minded cruisers together for a series of seminars broadly focused on the cruising lifestyle as well as social activities.
For the last six years, Bob Osborn and his event partner, George Van Drasek, have put on a three-day event in Essex in association with SSCA at the Essex Yacht Club (EYC). Essex is located approximately 6 miles up the Connecticut River on the eastern end of Long Island Sound, approximately 25 miles from Block Island. It is a very popular destination for east coast US sailors and yacht club cruises.
For the event’s seventh year, the above organizations with complementary missions are collaborating to produce an event that focuses on blue water cruising, preparation, safety and selected destinations, with the goal of bringing more skippers and families to the blue water voyaging and cruising lifestyle.
The event is being held at the Essex Yacht Club in Essex, CT June 21-23, 2019.
The registration deadline is June 14, 2019. Registration fees are $55 for SSCA, SDSA and OCC members and $75 for non-members. Registration includes lunches on Saturday and Sunday.
