“Navigating the ICW with Aqua Map”

Long time Senior System Engineer, Luis Soltero, has taken the next step with communication tool sets in conjunction with highly enhanced Inter coastal Waterway (ICW) marine charts. By using the updated Aqua Map application/charts, created from additions to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration marine charts, he is now navigating ICW channels with high precision.  He will also discuss Bob423 tracks, Predict Wind route planning, and offshore vs. inshore routes. The Aqua Map charts are provided with data integration with NOAA charts,  US Army ACES survey data and other US government provided materials. Aqua Map has also started a collaboration with NOAA to provide user depth data directly to NOAA as a public service. The Aqua Map corrections to the NOAA nautical charts for the ICW offer the best approach for consistent and more detailed data for cruisers. Aqua Map  continue to provide cruisers solutions to the always changing ICW depths.

When: Feb 8, 2024, 7:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

“Communication Strategies with Predict Wind Datahub”

Senior Software Engineer and Developer, Luis Soltero, shares his ideas and development tools for offshore and near shore using the new Datahub as well as Predict Wind services. This webinar is focused on cruisers who need integration support of various data streams from differing on board systems, conversion of data types (NEMA), as well as storage and reuse of collected data to onboard or remote systems. His tools have been utilized for cruisers for over twenty years, his software was the first to be used to compress and facilitate data communications via Iridium; his background has made the tools he has created something all cruisers should be aware of.

“Satellite communication strategies with Starlink and Iridium.
By Luis Soltero

Marine Engineer Luis Soltero, developer of many critical communications applications for offshore cruisers, presented his strategies during the SSCA Melbourne GAM 2023. The audience requested a repeat of this presentation as he answered questions on the various applications used, installation concepts and much more. This presentation presents not only his strategies as we go forward with offshore communications, but explains this body of work. This is an excellent webinar to help cruisers understand the various ways to be more successful with receiving and sending data while out of range of cell services. This technology is the most recent approach for offshore passaging for small boat cruisers.

When: Feb 22, 2024 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
