Donations Needed for Hurricane Relief Efforts in Bahamas

As stories, photos and video have emerged of the devastation in the Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian, cruisers who love the area and the Bahamian people are asking how they can help.  Currently, the best way you can assist is by making a financial donation.  Use the link below to learn what organizations are already on the ground and could use your generous donation to be more effective. 

How You Can Help

St. Augustine Gam:  November 15th-17th

Join SSCA for a new gam experience in a new location, St. Augustine, FL!   Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers and touted as the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine is a tourist destination sure to be enjoyed because of its rich history, Spanish colonial architecture and Atlantic Ocean beaches. The gam is scheduled for November 15th-17th at the St. Augustine Shrine Club with pre-gam activities on November 14th.  For more details or to register, visit the St. Augustine Gam page.

Voting Now Open for 2019 Elections

This year voting members will be electing two members to fill two vacancies on the SSCA Board of Directors.  A majority of the board is required to be voting members; in order to comply with the bylaws (Article IV, Section 1), at least one Commodore needs to be elected to one of the two open seats.  Commodores, please review the candidates as well as the six proposed bylaws amendments using the link below to the Commodore Voting page before casting your ballot.  The ballot link is also found on the same page.

The online voting deadline is November 6, 2019.  Voting can be cast in person at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, November 16th @ 1:30 pm at the St. Augustine Shrine, Club in St. Augustine, FL.

Election results will be announced at the Annual General Meeting during the St. Augustine Gam in November where the newly elected board members will take office.

Hampton Snowbird Rendezvous:  October 17th-20th

Join fellow cruisers from the North Eastern Seaboard and Canada in Hampton, VA for the 6th Annual Hampton Snowbird Rendezvous October 17th-20th.  Featured speakers include:  Chris Parker and Stormy Stickle from Marine Weather Center, Tom Hale of SAIL Magazine and Jody Argo Schroath of Chesapeake Bay Media.  Extensive coverage will be given to weather and traveling the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.  Registration packages range from $40-$125 with the best rates received when you register by September 10th.  For more information or to register, visit
